The first call for most people is 2-1-1. It is free, and it connects you to shelter, food and housing help in Humboldt County. You can also visit 211 Humboldt.

To get on the list for housing help, you sign up through Coordinated Entry. That is the county’s one shared sign-up list for homeless housing programs. You can sign up by calling 2-1-1, or by going to one of these places:

Food pantries and groceries

  • Food for People (Humboldt County Food Bank), 307 W. 14th St., Eureka · (707) 445-3166. Free groceries at pantries in many towns around the county, plus home delivery for people who can’t get out. Call Monday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., to make an appointment for that week.
  • CalFresh (food stamps) puts money for groceries on a card each month. You can apply online at BenefitsCal.com. Arcata House Partnership can help you apply.
