Buy local food straight from Humboldt ranchers, fishermen and farmers. No grocery or retail stores are listed here.

Start here

  • Call or message first. Many are small family operations. Hours, prices and what is in stock change with the seasons.
  • Ask about bulk. Ranchers often sell a whole, half or quarter animal. You will need freezer space.
  • Know the seasons. Dungeness crab usually opens in winter. Salmon, rockfish and albacore come in spring through fall. Produce peaks in summer and fall.
  • Bring cash and a cooler. Some sellers take cards, but not all.

Meat ranchers

These Humboldt ranches sell meat straight to families, by the cut, the box or the whole animal.

Produce farms

You can buy from local farms three ways: a weekly farm box (CSA), a farm stand, or picking it yourself (u-pick).

Farm boxes (CSA)

A CSA means you pay the farm ahead and get a box of whatever is fresh each week.

Azure Standard (monthly drop-off)

Azure Standard is not local. We include it because it is a Pacific Northwest family business that helps families all across the country. It was started by Oregon farmers David and Kimberley Stelzer.

  • What they sell: More than 12,000 natural and organic items: bulk grains, flour, beans, produce, seeds, pantry goods and household supplies. Azure also farms over 4,000 acres of organic crops.
  • How it works: A truck comes once a month to a local drop point. You order online, then pick up your order at the drop at the scheduled time.
  • Shipping: Free on orders over $50 in states near Oregon. Home delivery is also offered for an extra freight cost.
